Tri City Auto Repair
I have 30 years experience with a chain of tire and auto repair centers in Ohio, Recently moved to michigan and lately drove our benz from Ohio. Immediately went Tri city to find reason steering was stiff at speeds under 5 mph. Charged $274 to diagnose need to spend $1200 for a tie rod and steering dampner. These items only require a toe in reset not full alignment, but they insisted on full alignment. Part of their free service is check fluids and tire pressure. When car picked up steering issue not better, tire pressures not corrected and windshield fluid empty. . They apologized and promptly added fluid and adjusted pressures. When i pointed out that the alignment specs they used were not mercedes recommented, they stated the tech was fairly new ( i stated I did not want to throw him under bus) and they would promplty move it ahead of other service to correct issue. They called back with estimate for additional $200 to free up frozen adjusting bolts to change alignment...that they had already done before. They also said that $1500 in brake work might fix the steering. I refused additional costs and requested refund for alignment not done. . and owner said i was "spoiled" and they don't work for free. You might also see many other bad reviews they say are fake...no way!! i just came back from having the alignment corrected that was done at their shop that didn't fix the problem and actually caused a bad vibration at speed. When Tri City tried to correct their original attempt at alignment, they said it needed an additional $200 in labor to loosen frozen adjustment bolts. The rework was done by Dykstra in Hudsonville and the results were stellar. Vibration gone and it drives like a dream. I have invoice for $73 including shop materials and disposal...I never got back the refund for $137 Alignment Tri City couldn't do because of frozen bolts...and Dykstra had no problems adjusting the bolts, My invoice at Tri City was close to $1200 for no positive results, and they wanted me to spend another $1700. i just left a very positive review for Dykstra and will go back to them if I need any more service on this car. Read Tri City negative reviews..they are fond of threats to customers that are unhappy with service.
I'd like to point out that Ron started his review by telling you how he knows more then we do about cars. That is how he approach to repair to his vehicle. He asked us to look at it, then ignored our recommendations and decided on the repair he thought should do the job on his 35 year old Mercedes Benz. We agreed to do the work he wanted with the understanding that we do not guarantee results if the work is not done as recommended. Ron was insulting to all of my staff and they asked me to talk to him so they wouldn't have to suffer the abuse. Ron would not hear anything except the word FREE. Ron had just purchased this vehicle and somehow thinks we should be responsible for his mistakes. To make matters worse his threatened our reputation at the SPRING LAKE COUNTRY CLUB! So Ron Potter is a big something at the country club. (I bet they cringe when they hear the wannabe blow hard coming.) IF You would like to see and hear Ron's poor behavior, just ask. I betting he didn't pay attention to the warnings that we give about recording phone calls and security cameras with sound. I saved them all for everyone to hear what a overbearing narcissist sound and looks like!
